WELCOME HOME FIELDER!!!!!!!!!!

Can I just say I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEE my babies....I know it's corny, but I actually feel complete now. But we'll see how long that lasts after the honeymoon period is over and the real Fielder comes out ;) So far, Petey and Fielder have been great together. YAY!

So Missy drove me, Petey, Dee and her pups Fortune and Whim in to the Open House today in Oakville. Best of luck to Fortune at college! You'll do great Tuna!!!!! =) About ten minutes after I got there, I spotted Sam walking around and was calling her so I could get my new puppy. BUT she fully ignored me and walked away! But then a few minutes later she showed up carrying FIELDER so it's all good. Not long after, Kelsey showed up with Fawn, and it was a little reunion for the siblings...they're both extremely cute and were definitely the stars of Open House.

Open House was great as usual, lots of questions from the public. There were an unusual amount of mini poodles there this year, with two litters having just gone out, the D's (two weeks older) with Da Vinci, Dante, and Dare, and two F's, Fawn and Fielder. I won't bore you with any other stuff right now, as I'm sure you'll be wanting to see more pictures =P

*that's all blogger will let me do...hopefully i can upload more in a new post

SSD Keelin and Fielder

First off, a big CONGRATS to David and Nancy for doing a great job raising Keelin, who is now a graduated SSD as of last night. She is now paired with a 14 year old boy named Steve from Calgary, Alberta.

David asked me to post a picture of Keelin for all of you to enjoy, so here it is:

Yay Keelin!

Next, here are some pictures of Fielder that Sam took tonight....she is going to KILL me for the first one, but it is all worth it.

*Look hard for Fielder in this one...at first Lisa couldn't see him and was all "What? Since when was Patience Fielder? haha!

So I've heard from his littermate Fawn's mom...my friend Kelsey that Fawn is doing pretty well...Fielder, from what Sam and Kelsey tell me, moves fast and cries a lot...and loudly. Bit nervous, especially cause I have to work hard this week- a quiz every single day. But I'm really looking forward to his coming home! =) It's definitely time to shake things up a bit!!!!

p.s. Thanks Patience and Baloo, Diva, and Noel for helping to look after Fielder for me!

A Whole Bunch of Randomness

Today I called Breslau, and talked to one of the puppy people, and it's confirmed that Samarooney will pick Fielder up for me on Friday.....try not to let him get squished under Patience okay? And make sure you actually HAVE him when you leave...in case Brooke tries to steal him. Oh yes, and LOTS of pictures pleaseeee!!! Take one of him in Cessna's CVC harness okay? =D
***
My mom called me afterschool to tell me that she probably couldn't get Thursday afternoon off, and she called the puppy program to ask what's another time we can go for the assessment/eye tests. Puppy person called back to say the optometrist (why do i always get optometrist and opthamologist mixed up?!) can't come anyways, so it's okay, we don't have to go. Which I suppose is a good thing since I don't have to miss school (my parents were pissed I was missing school for assessment), but I was kinda looking forward to skipping part of math and all of history =( Darn it.
***
My new favourite song EVER. It's from Grey's -How to Save a Life, by the Fray....awesomest song in the whole entire world. It's constantly stuck in my head..evne when I don't want to listen to it, I end up listening to it and I LOVE it. -Jenny, you HAVE to start watching so you can obsess over it with me and Sam!!!!!- (p.s. Sam, I've decided to hate Derek now because he's an ass...how can he tell MEREDITH to make a decision when HE'S the one that's frickin married? He totally only wants her cause Finn wants her, plus what's Addy supposed to do?Hang around waiting to see if Meredith picks her husband? And if she doesn't, she's supposed to stay married to Derek? I don't think so!!! I love Addison with my life =D)

Something to tell your kids: "When I was your age, Pluto was a planet" HAHA!!

Everyone reading this must make a Facebook account right now! Go to www.facebook.com and register! Me and Sam are already on it, and then once more people get an account we want to make a Puppy Raising Group or whatever and we can all talk there! =D

Tip of the Day (wow, it's been a while...)

If the box clearly says Frozen Paws- Frozen treats for DOGS....

It PROBABLY isn't a good idea to try to eat some...cause it just might be the sickest salty frozen soybean icky crap you've ever tasted in your life. Oh yes, and the after taste may linger for awhile...oh, say around half an hour?

But I don't know for sure because I'm too smart to have ever done that.

Lucky and Flo!

I just read in the paper today that the MPA (Motion Picture Association) are employing two new staff members to help them fight aginst the illegal pirating of DVDs- two labs named Flo and Lucky!

This is very cool, and before they officially start, they're going to tour around some countries to show off their talents! Hope they hit Toronto sometime!!

In personal puppy news, I just found out last night that one of our friends Della- her daughter, Kelsey will be fostering one of Fielder's littermates, Fawn, a chocolate mini poodle! I don't know if either of the names really have to do with my suggestions, but coincidentally, they were both on the list I sent in. Thanks Amber (I think it was you....lol) for those suggestions! :)

NEW PUPPY!

I got a call from Breslau today, saying my new black male mini poodle puppy is ready to go home- on September 29th. Yep, that is in exactly 11 days. Two weeks earlier than I had expected, but oh well. My parents might kill me but I'll still have a puppy!!!! =D

His name is FIELDER, which isn't Finnigan, but I still love. I think it suits a mini well, but we'll have to see if it fits him well.

I won't be having him on his first night, because I'm going to Oakville on Thursday and Saturday, so my parents aren't up for going to Breslau on Friday. So Sam offered to babysit him the first night, and I'll pick him up at our school's Open House on Saturday. Have fun with him Sam, and don't forget to take lotsssss of pictures! =D

Marathon of Hope- A Single Dream. A World of Hope.

This morning Petey and I completed the Terry Fox Run- okay, not the whole 10K...we did the shorter 5K, because hello? A 10k walk at 9 in the morning may have just killed me. Maybe.

Me, Petey, Fortune (LGX), and Dee

The Terry Fox Run is an annual event here in Canada, with walks taking place all around the country. It is to commemorate Terry Fox, and to carry on his mission- raising money for cancer research. The Port Coquitlam, B.C. teenager was only 18 years old when he was diagnosed with bone cancer, and in 1977, had his right leg amputated six inches above the knee. While he was in the hospital, he decided to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research- the Marathon of Hope.

On April 12, 1980, after dipping his leg in the Atlantic Ocean, he set off on his journey across Canada. After 143 days and 5,375 km, his journey was forced to an end because his cancer had spread to his lungs. At the age of 22, Terry Fox passed away on June 28, 1981.

Today, my family, Petey, and another foster family walked to commemorate this young Canadian hero and to try to help a little bit in carrying on his legacy. I'm very proud to say that Petey walked very well today (most of the time), though he was a tad distracted by this one off-leash dog that was walking along behind us. This is my favourite picture of Petey from today:

The walk was not too bad- a lot of it was along a shaded path by a little stream, and there was a water stop about half way.

Are we there yet???

We did the 5K in an hour and a half- I suppose it wouldn't have taken that long if we had actually rain it, but we were doing it more as a leisurely walk sorta thing. But, in the end, we all made it back in one piece.

*Darn, blogger stopped working- I'll post the cute pic of him at the Finish sign later*

Of Doggy Ice Cream and 5 week old Puppies

Today my friends and I were in Loblaws buying snacks afterschool when I happened to pass by the ice cream section. What should I see but the Frozen Paws doggy ice cream that have eluded me for so long. Geez they're expensive, at $5.12 for 4 cups, but I loveeeeee Petey a lot, and figured I might as well just try it, so I bought it.

Petey LOVED it....and I was smart and only gave him half of a cup...so it's not as much fat, and I save some ;) Here are some pics from his first doggy ice cream adventure:

YUMMY!!!!!

"If I don't see it, it won't tempt me to break my down/wait"

Gone in literally two seconds! (that's just the paper I put under it so it wouldn't leave the floor sticky)

A short update on 'F' puppy- I called the puppy people up in Breslau today, and for the first time, I had called early in the day and someone picked up right away, instead of me having to leave a message, yay! She said that the litter is doing great, and that they have not been named yet, but they probably will be soon, and they had received my email for names! :)

Remembering 9/11

Five years ago, my friends and I were standing outside during morning recess walking around, talking, laughing when one of my friend's mom came over to tell us that the World Trade Centre had been hit.

At the moment, it had no effect on me, as horrible as it sounds. I knew nobody in New York, knew nobody in Pennsylvania, didn't know the effects this would have on the city; the world.

The entire school gathered in the gym to pray, to discuss, to be together. Days later, we would find out nearly 3000 people had died, including 24 Canadians. Families devastated, god, the entire country devastated, the world changed forever. Sons, daughters, sisters, brothers, cousins, uncles, aunts, fathers, mothers, friends lost forever.

On this day we saw the worst event to hit North America in a long time....but we also saw the best in people come out.

In going through my blogroll last night, through Kelsey, I stumbled upon a blog dedicated to remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001. 2996 volunteer bloggers coming together to commemorate the lives of 2996 of the people who were killed in the attacks as people. Not just as someone who died in these attacks, but as someone who lived, who had a family, a job, hobbies.

Today, we remember these 2996 people, these 24 Canadians.

Today, we remember September 11, 2001.

Remember When...

I wasn't sure if I should foster a Jack? And I wasn't sure if my parents were into that? Well this morning my mom actually asked me "So if your's and Petey's graduations were on the same day, which one should we go to?" Umm.....yeah...okay, Mom.

And here are some superduper cute pictures from yesterday:

Petey in Sam's car!

My pretty baby at the Burlington Fall Fair

Petey and Patience trying very hard not to look in the same direction at the same time

Petey and my purchases of the day- Finn's new collar and peanut butter treats for Petey

Finn's collar compared to a $20 bill so you can see how small it really it...I'm actually a tad worried that it's still too big. I think I'll get a cat collar to start him off with.

p.s. Amber- Don't get too used to it though, I don't think his name will actually be Finnigan, seeing as we already have a Gilligan and Finney :P

Joanna- Ewwww! That is disturbing, haha! And no, I'm guessing they were in their 20's? It was pretty annoying, they sang the same lines over and over. Like the guy would go "I'm bringing sexy back", and then the girl would go "Them other boys don't know how to act" and then the guy would burp. Ew!

YYYYYAAAYYYYY!!!!!!

That noise you hear? Yeah, my heart just exploded with pride and happiness.

Today we had a puppy class-the one at the mall. Since our group's class got cancelled, we joined in on the next one, which just so happened to be Patience and Polaris'. Though sucky Amy couldn't be there...but that's okay, me and Sam had fun without her, right Sam? :P

I was a bit worried about this class- I know that he can do the stuff, but our last puppy class was a tad horrendous, so I was worried our puppy supervisor wouldn't see Petey behaving well, and just thinking that he was a monster. (Of course, he was distracted and unneutered at the time of the last class, which was an obedience one).

But anywho, since Sammarooney was working when I arrived in Oakville at 9:30 (Can I just take a moment to whine about how I had to wake up at 7 today?? On a SATURDAY?? It's like it was school all over again), our friend Della picked me up. Petey and her foster puppy, a black lab, had a little play in the back seat until we got to the foundation.

Petey on the GO train
There we hung out in the parking lot with some other foster puppies, and then we headed off to the mall on the bus. When we got to the mall, we walked around the upper level beside the railings (for height issues), then up and down the open staircases, then in the elevator (ahhh! stuck in a confined space with Sam!), then the regular escalators up and down, and then the harder escalator, with the yellow stripeys on them.

I am VERY happy to announce that today, Petey was freakin AWESOME!!! Although he was pulling a bit, and got excitable when people petted him, he handled everything like a pro, and I am SO HAPPY right now. Soooo proud of my baby boy, although I really hope this doesn't mean we've used up all our luck, and next puppy class he will be a monster again! Patience was also verrrryyyyyy well behaved, so I'm very proud of my pretty goddaughter as well :)

After the mall, Della, Sam and I went to this barbeque thing for a pet store's anniversary. This was near where Sam lived, so I sat in Sam's car and she gave me a "tour" of her part of town. At the store, I got a huge bag of peanut butter treats, and a little collar for Finnigan. (That's what I'm calling my puppy until I know it's name...cause that's what I want to name him.) And then we each got a balloon, and then the cashier guy popped it and there was a little paper inside saying how much we got off, so that was really nice. We got 15% off, and then we got a huge free bag of treats (it was chicken, though, so it'll have to be saved for Finn), and a few samples of treats. I definitely wish I lived closer so I could go to that pet store...it was cool, cause it wasn't one of those big chain ones that we usually see in Toronto.

After the shop, we went to the Burlington Fall Fair, where it was freezing and didn't rain...or so we tried to pretend to ourselves. ("Positive thinking! It's not raining!....ummm let's break out the umbrellas") It was fun just hanging out and eating a whole cone of cotton candy :D Yummyyyy! Cotton candy should be its own food group to be consumed at least once a day.

On the way home, I was pooped, but apparently Petey still had the energy to occassionally lunge for the dropped cookie on the GO train. He settled down for the TTC though, so that's good. I think the best compliment I've gotten so far in the entire time I've had Petey is one I got today. It wasn't verbal, but when we got up to leave the the train, the guy beside us gasped, and stared at Petey. Of course, he just might not have noticed him because he and his girlfriend were too busy singing Justin Timberlake's Sexy Back to each other and burping and thn kissing, but I'm totally taking this to mean he never even noticed Petey was lying under the seat only 5 cm away from his own feet. Woot woot!

Ahhh Not My Day Today! (But Hilarious)

What a fine Thursday to make a complete fool of myself.

We had just gotten our lockers today in homeroom, so of course I hadn't memorized my lock combo yet.

For lunch, my friend Therese and I decided to make a quick run to the business plaza, a 20 minute walk away for lunch at the food court. I put my slip of paper with the combo in my bag, tossed my bag in my locker, and since Reese's lock didn't work, I invited her to put her bag in there too. And then, I Locked.The. Locker. I LOCKED IT!!!! To be fair, I did feel a bit off, like I was missing something, but I just figured 'hey, i've got my money, what else do I need?'

So off we go....we didn't stay there to eat because Reese wanted to go back to school to see Mr Carey, one of the VPs about her non-working lock. (p.s., Carey's awesome!!!! He's my favourite VP ever, he's really funny and actually makes the assemblies fun and stuff). As we were entering the school, it hit me that I didn't have the combo with me. I panicked for all of two seconds, and then the number popped into my head. We arrive at my locker, and you guessed it- the combo I had thought was right, was, in fact wrong. We decided to eat lunch first, then go to him about the locks.

After lunch, we lined up outside his office, but the line was really long because there's been quite the mixup with lockers and schedules this year. We waited for half an hour, but then we had to go to class. Luckily, we had geo together, and it was a sub, so went back to Mr Carey's office, waited for about ten minutes, and it was our turn. (Oh wait, but not before I tried to walk out of class with a thread from my kilt unknowingly stuck to my desk, get stuck halfway done the aisle, and made a big *twang* as I unstuck it, and the whole class looked at me and the teacher was all "What's going on here?")

As expected, when I told him what I had done, he burst out laughing, and was like "That's outrageous!". At least I found out I wasn't the only one, someone else had done the same thing earlier. So he gave me my combo, and then the three of us walked to Therese's locker and fixed the problem, and then picked up our stuff from my locker, and went back to class.

Thankfully, Therese found all this uproariously funny....as did all my other classmates that found out ("Oh my God Nat! How do you even DO that??") All in all, a pretty fun way to pass periods 3 and 4, and then our last period, 5, I had a spare so I got to go home an hour early! Woohoo!

Senior At Last

Two days into my last year of high school, I feel.....completely the same? Just a billion times more freaked out than normal.

Unlike many of my classmates, yet like so many others, I don't want to leave. I really, REALLY don't want to leave. This is comfortable. This is where I've spent the majority of my last three years, where I've made some of the best friends of my life, established myself in a community, enjoy the ups and downs (mostly) of a familiar setting, among many other things.

I actually love my school, despite how often I complain about the all-girls, uniform-wearing thing. The awesome thing is, even if you look like crap when you roll out of bed, who even cares? It's ALL GIRLS. You don't have to go through the makeup thing every morning, and you don't even have to stress about what to wear. And I am actually publicly admitting right now that I don't even mind the kilt. That much. Whole different story for stupid pants though.

Don't get me wrong, I'm really looking forward to Grade 12. It's out senior year after all, we rule the school. We get grad wear, trips, special privileges, among other things. But then you have all the stress about the workload, the getting into university, the marks, the sheer cost of everything put together.

Everything is a whole lot more serious now, with teachers teaching"university skills", and warning you to drop the class if you're not into it, because things are way intense this year. But luckily, I got mostly really good teachers, so at least that will help a bit.

Plus, I've got one entirely too adorable puppy on my side, and another on the way. And that, I think will be the best stress-reliever of all. Unless the new puppy and Petey don't get along. Then that will be very, very bad. But we are not thinking about that right now. No we are not.

p.s. I don't know what is wrong with me, but I can't seem to get over this Steve Irwin is dead thing. Probably doesn't help I'm obsessively following all the news stories and watching all the tributes and intending to tape the marathon Discovery is going to air. But anyways, one of my favourite blogs, Amerika Street, posted one of the best tributes to Steve ever. If I wasn't before, I'm definitely a little bit in love with Erik now. (Words in red are the links)

RIP Steve Irwin

Today I woke up to the news that Steve Irwin had died. It felt so surreal and it still does now. How could he die? I thought he was invincible...he was the Crocodile Hunter.

And to die while filming animals for his daughter's tv show...leaving behind his wife, his 8 year old daughter and his 3 year old son. And to be stabbed in the heart by a stingray? That's the freakiest freak accident I've ever heard.

He was fearless, passionate, and lived life to the fullest. I always watched all his shows on Animal Planet and it was my dream to visit his zoo in Australia. It just sucks that when I finally do, he won't be there anymore.

He was loved by many, and will be missed by many....sincerest condolences to Terri, Bindi and Robert.

RIP Steve Irwin

1 for 1!

Today did go superduper, if I do say so myself!

We weren't kicked out of any of the stores in the (different) mall that we went to, and Petey did excellent. In fact, I think this may have been one of his best mall runs yet! I just hope this doesn't mean we've used up all our good luck, and have a horrific assessment on Saturday, ahhhhh!!!

One funny incident that did happen was that in Grand and Toy, a woman accidentally stepped on the very tip of the fur on Petey's tail, and neither of us noticed. Then one of the women working there was like "Excuse me ma'am, you're stepping on a dog" haha! So we all got a good laugh out of that, and of course Petey didn't even notice...probably daydreaming about his next treat.

I got my backpack, so I guess tomorrow I'll actually have to pack things in it, ew! And I guess that means I actually have to clean out my binders from last year! Except my english binder that somehow grew mold on it while it lived in my locker....yeah, that one's going straight in the trash. Yuck.

Here we are trying to copy Sam and Patience, but unfortunately, the bag is wayyyy to big to fit over Petey, so I just had to kind of drape it over him instead:

p.s. Erin- we are so moving to North Carolina!!

4.5 out of 5, Not Bad

So I woke up today and thought "Hmmm what shall I do on this fine day where I am growing bones in my jaw to make up for the four teeth that were yanked out 3 days ago? I know! How about I take my psychotic 9 month old puppy out shopping on Labour Day Weekend!!!"

And that is exactly what I did. Though it MAY not have been as dramatic as that. It went pretty well, actually, considering. We hit Chapters, Michael's, Staple's, PetsMart, and a mall. We have an assessment coming up next weekend, so this was good practise for Mr. Petesies.

Ironically, Petey was the best at the two most crowded places, Staple's (hello every kid in the world doing last minute shopping!) and the mall. I was pretty happy with him as he worked very well on his halti (or Avenue..whatever), without much pulling and not as much scrounging for nasty things on the ground as before. In Chapter's, though, he kept getting all squirmish and wiggly and not focussing very well. I've noticed that, true to his breed, he is best at work when he can be actually doing something, even if it is just walking around. If i just wanted him to lay there waiting for me to read a book or something, he'd pop up out of his sit or down, looking for something to do or someone to play with. He's definitely had some improvement though, so I'm happy about that. We'll just have to keep on working on that until he improves even more.

The one bad part of our day, though, was being thrown out of Walmart. A Walmart we had been in before. Once we stepped in, the "greeter" greeted us with "No dogs allowed in the store". So we tried to explain, you know the drill....future dogguide, in training, etc. Then we had to wait for the manager's approval, which we ended up not getting. He said that they would only let in dogs that were specifically guiding someone, in other words, legal. Which ,you know, we do understand that we don't have the guaranteed legal access, so we left after talking with the greeter, and the manager. What made it worse was one of the loading guys saying to us "No dogs allowed in this store" and smirking, as he left. That wasn't nice at all. But then there was a woman who overheard all this, and said "You can't deny them! This dog is going to be a guide dog one day!" while glaring at the guy and then nodding at me. Okay, she was wrong, since they can deny us, but still. It was just nice to have someone on "our" side, for once.

But anyways...we just continued on through the mall after that, and then we went home. Not too bad a day, considering the events overall. Plus, I got all my back to school shopping done! Well....except for getting a backpack...but that's on tomorrow's agenda!

100th Post!!!!

Big thanks to David for this Get Well "card" he sent me! Thank you to the Charlsdan Gang for sitting patiently and sending me get well wishes!

From Left- Thank you to the gorgeous Kyra, the beautiful Brin, my wonderful godpuppy Flight (Hi Flight! Keep up the good foster puppying!), and the newest addition to the gang, adorable little Ash!

Also, thanks to Dee for sending me a care package of soup, pudding, candy, and of couse- Kraft Dinner! haha

In puppy news, my friend Brooke went to Breslau today, and she saw the puppy program people. Since I can't really talk thanks to me teeth and can't phone them myself, she asked for me what the litter letter is. Annddddddd, the official letter is....F!!!!

So thank you everyone for your suggestions! I will be sure to include all the ones you sent in on my list I'm giving the puppy people.
